Expensive Weekend

The weekend has been fruitful, albeit tiring.

On Saturday, we tidied the study room and kept some of the books and lecture materials from my Diploma, Advanced Diploma and Degree courses into the storeroom. These are stuff that I haven't touched ever since I shifted into the current flat, which is about 5 years. I've always wanted to revisit these books and notes but didn't really get down to it. So we put them into one of the boxes which we bought from Ikea last week and packed them off into the already crowded storeroom. That created quite a bit of empty spaces and we cleared the surface area of the dresser table and put them into the empty spaces in the book shelf.

But this will not remain for long. We just purchased 2 wardrobe and these will take up more space and we have to remove one of the book shelves and we have to think of somewhere else to put store the things again.

So now Hubby spent more than $2k and we have to think of where to store the stuff again. Think the house is already bursting by the seams and I seriously can't think of anywhere else to store the things.

Then cos we went to quite a few places to look at furnitures, we also passed some shops selling bathroom stuff. So we looked at some basins and in one of the shops, Hubby saw a Japanese-like bathtub and wanted to buy them! It's one of those made in wood complete with seats and scoops. Like those traditional ones that we saw on 'Japan Hour'. But it's just novelty and I didn't wanna get that cos it's really not cheap. Then we saw one bathtub that is the modern, white type and wanted to buy that cos the size is just nice for our bathroom. But when we deliberate somemore, we realised we won't use it that often and it'll increase the water consumption. So we decided against buying it. It's a luxury item but not a necessity. So better dun waste money. We wanted to change the shower head, water heater as well as basin. But that cost quite a bit. So we hold onto the idea first.

I was thinking we shouldn't waste so much money on the current flat cos when we have kids, we REALLY have to shift. Cos we need more space and room for the kids. The flat now is just right for the 2 of us. With kids coming along, we'll have to shift. So I told Hubby to save the money for the reno for the next house. No point wasting so much on a place that we'll need to sell off in max 5 years' time. I'd rather spend more on the next house cos that will be more permanent.

So for this weekend, we only bought the wardrobes which I think Hubby really wanted to buy cos he wants to do up the house. Since we cannot fulfill his whole dream, I gather I'll let him fulfill part of his dream. This is, afterall, his first flat and I'm sure he is somehow excited about doing it up. Let's hope he holds that enthusiasm long enough for the next flat.

Till then, we'll have to solve the more immediate issue of packing the bookshelf!

Bloody Bitch

We went for dinner at CHIJMES to celebrate Hubby's birthday and just as we were entering the carpark, a fren called and told us not to park there. Hubby, thinking that the carpark is full, tried to reverse to get outta the carpark. Cos once you entered the carpark, you have to pay $9 upfront and if there are no lots, then tough luck. You dun get refunded.
So he put the car into reverse gear and started to reverse up the slope. Then before we knew it, we heard a bang and I instantly knew he hit another car. For the sake of saving money, I was hoping he hit the kerb. But nope, he indeed hit another car.
As the car was valet-parked, he had to surrender his IC and left his mobile for the valet to call him when the owner returns so we can compensate the owner.
So we went for dinner and was waiting for the call. It came towards the end of our dinner and we went out to meet the owner. Turned out she was a woman (who looked like she's in her late 30s or early 40s) and she looked really displeased. Well, I understand that totally. Who would look happy when her car has just been hit? Hubby offered to pay $200 ($150 for the damage and $50 for the inconvenience she has to go through). It was just a slight knock and the bumper was dented. So the amount is enough to cover the repair. I wasn't even thinking of giving her money for her inconvenience. So hubby was already being kind enough. But that bitch didn't wanna accept the amount and acted all important. Saying this is uncalled for and reckless and a waste of time and her time means money to her and that it has to be compensated.
I got royally pissed at this point and wanted to lash out at her. But I didn't wanna pay her a dime more and losing my temper would have meant she can refuse the amount and make things really nasty. So I held my tongue in check and let her continue with her bullshit.
Point #1: She would have been real stupid to send the car back to Borneo Motors for repair. Toyota Motors just took back the distribution of their products from Borneo Motors (or haven't she heard? Dumb skunk!) So, of course, there must be something wrong. And since I have some business interactions with them, I know why that happened. So if she sent her car back to Borneo Motors (the car was a Yaris, parallel-imported), she would have to wait a damn long time to get it fixed. When the distribution rights was still with Borneo Motors, they already took very long to fix a car. And now? They, of course, will take even longer! And hers is just a Yaris. What makes her think they will give her priority when they can earn more by repairing a Lexus? So screw it, woman. Money talks and a Yaris is not exactly big bucks.
Point #2: She acted like she is damn superior. If she is earning damn a lot, she would have bought a Celica, if not a Lexus. So dun give me the shit that time is money. How cliched! If your time is really so important, you wouldn't have wasted it standing there bargaining for a hundred more. And who knows why you spent so much time at CHIJMES with an angmoh guy? Can't get a man of your race to fuck you so you had to venture out?
Point #3: She commented that hubby was reckless. She wasn't even there to witness how it took place. If hubby was reckless, her whole front bumper would have dropped to the floor. Reckless? That's a personal attack. And a baseless one at that. So should I be talking to my lawyer because I felt tooootaaaally wounded by that statement and suffered an immmmmense amount of emotional strain?
Point #4: This is of course uncalled for. Who, in the right mind, will go around knocking other people's car? If we enjoy doing that, we would have rammed the whole car and make sure the tyres get dislodged from the car. 废话! Brainless! Numb skull!
Point #5: We have to compensate for the damage. What the hell did she think we were doing there? Playing with barbie? Which ear of hers heard us saying we won't compensate her? Another example to show that she is but an empty vessel. Hello!!! Wake up!!!
And that white trash who was with her said he paid more than a thousand to replace the bumper of his Honda. Who asked to replace the whole bumper? It's not even detached or dangling. All you need to do is knock it out and get a new paint job. Trying to fish around and get a new bumper? Over my dead body. And why are you not driving your Honda? Anyone who is used to having a car and driving himself around would drive his own car. Too poor to buy petrol? Then go row a sampan!
These people really pissed me off. Should have gotten a bangla to go rape her so she'll feel satisfied and stop being such an irritant. The most amusing part is the "time is money" statement. Can't really blame her. She has nothing and nobody else to spend her time on. No life!
Brainless bitch. Treating her Yaris like an A380. Big fucking deal!
