The hubs and I are dead beat. The night feeds are taking their toll and what we need is a night of uninterrupted sleep. This will not be realized for months to come. Dayen continues to wake every 2 hours for his feed and none of us can get proper sleep. Dallen is also being forced to grow up and I'm thankful he's being a good sport about it. I'm ever so proud of him.
Cos I'm breastfeeding, we can't even go out for long periods of time. We have to time our outings such that we'll only be out within the window of one pump and the next. Last night was horrible! The milk ducts on my right breast got stuck and no matter how much I pump, the milk refused to flow. My breast was hard like a lemon; mostly hard with just a bit of softness. You could feel the ducts jutting out and the pain was indescribable! I pressed, knead, massaged. Nothing works. At close to midnight, I was in such pain I started to cry. As a last ditch attempt, I got the hubs to suck out the blockage. The milk finally flowed. But not before the pain I had to endure as the hubs suck on my nipple. By then, the pain was two-fold; from the nipple as well as the engorged breast. I so wanted to give up breastfeeding. The pain and inconvenience associated with breastfeeding really discouraged me greatly. But I've decided to press on. If not for anything else, just so that I can lose weight quickly. Haha... I think God is really smart. He makes it difficult to lose weight after delivery but makes sure breastfeeding helps in a great way so that women like me will find it an incentive to breastfeed. Great strategy!
