Of Death and Terminal Illness

Nope, this blog is not what you think it is. It's got nothing to do with the physical health of a person. Rather, it's about the descriptions of marriage.

Many people say marriage is the tombstone of love. I prefer to think of it as the terminal illness of love. After marriage, a person starts to care less as the years go by, until one day, he doesn't care anymore. And he's not even conscious of the fact that he's letting you down or that he's hurt you. Or if he does know, he just doesn't care. Not anymore.

And it's also been said that 男人不坏,女人不爱. I have another one to add on to it. The better you treat a man, the worse he'll treat you.

When I started my relationship with the hubs, everyone was envious of me, telling me how well he treats me and how they wish their other half is like him. Several years down the road, I started to feel he doesn't care as much and put it down to the honeymoon period being over. Then a friend of his highlighted that he noticed things weren't as rosy as before, which confirmed how I felt. A wedding and two kids later, it's like we're just living our own lives. He doesn't seem to notice that he's hurt me or if he does, can't be bothered anymore. It used to be that when he noticed that I was unhappy abt something, he asked me abt it and then talked to me abt it. These days, even if he knows I'm unhappy, he really can't be bothered. He doesn't raise the subject and prefers to just sweep it under the carpet, letting me stew for as long as I want to while he pretends nothing is wrong. Oh well, so much for "I will love you....till death do us part." Perhaps the vow should also include "I choose to care and not take you for granted."
