Just Some Updates

The past week has been rough at work. What with business not doing well and the boss being pressured, we became the stress absorber. New promotions, new antics, new directions. All in a week. And we are once again being blamed for things that are not within our control. Why can't people just do the things they're supposed to do and do it well? Then we dun have to shoulder the blame that was not ours to begin with. This is getting increasingly irritating and like I said, I dun wanna sink with the hotel. So here I am, patiently waiting my time out. Another 12 weeks or so and I'm outta here. And outta these 12 weeks, I'll be on leave for about a week and a half. That reduced my 'sentence' greatly. Everyday is a drag and a morale test. So, I have decided to tender my resignation as a clown-cum-fool.

Away from that negative spectrum. Hubby and I went to select our gowns/suits for the phototaking. And my ever-trusted old frens (they are really old; for our friendship dates back more than 10 years. And I'm glad it's still on-going!) were there. Thank you gals! You were always there when I needed you. We've had our ups and downs; our tiffs and reconciliations; our regrets and happiness in life. But we have remained friends and I'm ever grateful for that.

Anyway, I tried on several gowns but on hindsight, I should have tried on more. Here are some photos that some of you may already be sick of by now. :o)

I personally like this one with the flowers. A pity its train ain't as beautiful as some of the rest. But still, it's one of my favourites.

Luckily I had Man and 'laine with me. Otherwise, I wouldn't know which gowns to choose! All of them looks nice and there are only a few I can choose. But the lady was nice enough to allow me to add a couple of gowns on top of what we agreed upon.

After the gown selection, we went to look at condos but I wasn't impressed. The units are small and the area not fantastic. Even if I was a sincere buyer, I would have given it a miss cos the sales person was by far, the worst I've met in the entire life! Anyway, we'll take our time to source for a private apartment. It'll be a while before we need more space. Even if we have a kid by next year, it'll be some years more before the kid needs his/her own room. Moreover, we may not be around for long. So we shall see.
Till my next blog, be good!

Friends

And friends are friends forever
If the Lord's the lord of them
And a friend will not say "never"
'cause the welcome will not end
Though it's hard to let you go
In the father's hands we know
That a lifetime's not too long to live as friends.

Isn't that what being friends is all about?

Busy Weekend

Every Friday, Hubby and I will go for a nice dinner and check out the restaurants that we have not been to. Last Friday, we went for dinner at 'Cafe Hooha'. That wasn't the original plan but in his blurness, Hubby drove to the wrong place and we ended up picking one of the restaurants there.

The variety of the menu of ok and we ordered drinks (Long Island tea for Hubby and Frozen Margarita for me), soups (Mushroom Soup for hubby and Clam Chowder for me), appetiser (escargots) and a main course (pork ribs for hubby and a tenderloin steak for me).

The food wasn't too shabby and the steak was done to the correct doneness for me, which is important cos I am very fussy about my steak. But the black pepper sauce which came highly recommended was a disappointment. The steak tasted better on its own.

But I still prefer 'Bistro 103' where we went 2 Fridays before. Food was nice, prices reasonable and service excellent. Nothing spectacular but it made for a good, relaxed dinner. I highly recommend it but it's a little outta the way. It's at Pasir Panjang, hidden in a little corner.

On Saturday, our new warbdrobes were delivered and we spent half the day packing the house. It's kinda amazing how much stuff we have (most of the stuff are mine, of course). But the wardrobes provided ample space and after we finished, we still had empty spaces in the wardrobes, which is a pleasant surprise cos we always had headache when it came to storage spaces. Even the store room is full and can't fit the mahjong table in. We are still thinking of where to keep the mahjong table cos it's now sitting in the living room which is quite unsightly. Its old resting place has been taken over by the new wardrobe. So it has now been evicted. I swear our next house will have to be much bigger than the current one. We really do need a lot more space. If we have a baby now, we'll either have to share our room or the crib goes to the living room and by then, we'll probably have to remove the wine rack and empty that area. As of now, we can't even find a suitable area for the altar. The most logical position will be one of the walls in the living room. But that wall faces the area where we normally play mahjong. Not very nice to have Jesus and Mother Mary watching you play mahjong, dun you think? So we are still pondering over this. Even my friends can't suggest an alternative. Sigh....

We rested today and I finally submitted my paperwork to the church. We'll see where that takes us. So long as it doesn't disrupt my children's or Shane's baptism, I'm ok even if it doesn't fall through. Although I know I'll feel that something is missing and I wouldn't have the full experience, I'm already half-hearted about it now. We'll see.

Tomorrow is another day at work and will be one of those days where we 'have home but can't return (有家归不得)'. Just cos we have one of those ass-holes big shot coming to check on our work, we have to stay away. Which means we probably can't return at our usual timing of 5pm. To avoid the one-to-one sessions which might take place, we better stay away from the office. This will mean I'll have to delay doing my report for that day and rush the next day. Bollocks!

Then there is the black files to contend with. I hope they do not call for that. If not, I'm dead meat. Brought back the reports but didn't get the chance to work on it cos I think packing my house is more important. I do have more than just work in my life and I refused to let work take priority over the weekend. Sucks!
