Our New Abode

We finally got to meet with our Interior Designer and I must say the first meeting went very well. Both the hubs and I are comfortable with him and it's a great excitement for me to finally be able to relay our thoughts to a professional and have them put down on paper. It makes the apartment seems all the more within our grasp and gives a deeper sense of attachment to it. Let's see what the ID comes back with. I know reno can be a real pain but I can't wait for it to start! Exciting times ahead!

Time To Say Goodbye.....Again

Our short week-long trip is coming to an end. Tomorrow we'll take a morning flight back to Jogja again.

These days, every trip back to SG makes leaving more difficult. I'm always filled with a sense of longing and wishing that our place is ready and that the hubs has finished his stint in Jogja. I just wanna settle down and get into the routine of life. Right now, it's like we're in a time vacuum. Everything else stands still and there's no sense of completion cos we're away. Only when we return to SG permanently can I truly say we're home. Now, it's sort of like living in limbo. Can't really say I've established a life for myself in Jogja. Oh well, guess I'll just have to grit my teeth and get on with it. No matter how much I miss staying in SG, the show must go on.

So, adiós! Till we meet again!

Let A Child Be A Child

Many parents, especially Chinese ones, are extremely particular about the way their children behave. They're constantly going "don't do this, don't do that". Is there really a need to be so concerned and ensure that a child sits quietly in a corner?
Dayen decides to be adventurous and used his rocker to climb onto the table.
A child is meant to be just that; a child. Why strip away their childishness and force them to be like an adult? Why stifle them and cause them distress over the slightest matter? Is it really good that a child sits quietly, not daring to utter a sound or make a movement? I think not. Such parents are depriving their children of the chance to be creative and live a life. These children grow up to be the most boring individuals and do not enjoy life because they're so watchful over themselves and making the effort to be prim and proper. They lose their spontaneity and become quite unhappy because they're never good enough for themselves. I feel very sad for people like that. It's through no fault of their own that they become like that. But they have to bear the burden of being uptight for the rest of their lives.

Ever since he can stand he's been wanting to cruise.
Seriously, I don't see any harm in children chattering at the dinner table or being playful towards an adult. Remember, if the kid doesn't like you, he would most definitely not want to be near you, let alone play with you.
Dallen being totally engrossed with his Lego, being oblivious to all else that goes on around him.
Take a chill pill. It makes parenting easier and you get livelier kids who grow up to be happier people.
My babies who love each other but challenge each other everyday!

Grrrrrr

You know, I really do treasure the 2 hours of leisure in the morning. It's the only time I can't do anything cos I'm in school waiting for Dallen. So I read my book and until recently, also watch shows on my phone. Moreover, it's also a good time for Dayen to take his nap. So I make it a point to make him sleep as soon as I drop Dallen off at school. He usually falls asleep within half an hour and the next hour or so, I'm home-free.

Today is no exception. I purposely left for school early so Dayen gets more time to sleep and I have more time to do my stuff. Usually the other mothers leave the school as soon as the kids go into the classrooms. But today, I have no freaking idea why, they decided to hang around. My goodness! When these women gather, they really can bring the house down, or even wake the dead from their eternal slumber. I had my headphones on at full volume (I had to blast it in order to hear my phone!) and I can still hear them talking to one another! Gosh! I mean, I can't expect them to keep all quiet just cos Dayen is sleeping. This is, afterall, a public place. But do they really have to talk so loudly when the person they're talking to is just right in front of them?! Oh you bunch of gossipmongers! Just cos you dun have to take care of your own children doesn't mean the rest of the world is as irresponsible as you. Do you know how freaking difficult it is for me to make Dayen sleep! Please! Use more common sense and consideration and less of your vocal chords! When they succeeded in waking Dayen, they decided to go off for lunch, leaving me with a cranky baby cos he hasn't slept enough yet. What the hell!
