Dallen's First Vocab!

We were having dinner and as usual, Dallen refused to eat and so I took an apple to supplement his dinner. As soon as I took the apple out of the plastic bag and he saw it, he went "aa-ble". I was shocked and looked at him in amazement. He simply smiled like it's the most natural thing. Haha...the joy!
When he was a couple of months old, the hubs will bring him to the fruits section of the supermarket while I did my grocery shopping and teach him the names of fruits. Apple being one of the regulars. So he gets to know the word and feel the fruit. Today, we reap that harvest! So words really do register in a baby's mind as young as that. Wonderful!

Time To Work That Fat Body

Yeah!!! The threadmill is finally in and I dun have to feel guilty and worried everytime we go for a nice dinner. Cos now I can work it off. So hopefully I can still meet my targeted weight before we go back for Dallen's birthday in August. I wanna look good, not FAT! There are so many clothes waiting for me cos I can no longer fit into them after pregnancy. But now I have hope! Slowly, bit by bit, I'm shedding weight and I hope they dun come back to haunt me for the rest of my life!

Gadjah Wong

So here we are. Back from a brilliant dinner and the threadmill is still nowhere in sight. I've managed to lose 2kg since we shifted in and now I'm steadily putting them back on again. But the dinner was worth it. Super expensive but fantastic! The dinner costs us more than a person's monthly wage here. Not something we'll have frequently, definitely. But nice indulgent once in a while. This is authentic western cuisine and totally delectable.
Gadjah Wong is slated as THE place to go to for a fine-dining experience. While dress code is not necessarily an issue, the price certainly was. By virtue of the fact that it's pricey, the whole restaurant was almost empty and we sorta had the whole place to ourselves. The restaurant is split into 3 sections and we chose to sit at the jazz part. But tonight's music wasn't jazzy. It was more classical; which I prefer. Having a bottle of wine topped it all off. Nice!
We had this beef ragout thingy for starters and it's really nice. Not oily and the meat is tasty.

Salad...nothing to shout abt.

Norwegian salmon. I didn't try it but it certainly looks good.

The sirloin steak with red wine sauce was nice...

But my rack of lamb made it to the top. Yummylicious!

And we were serenaded by a 3-piece band.

A Pressie From The Hubs!

I saw this watch when we went to change battery for one of my watches and the hubs got it for me! I've always wanted to get a dress watch but didn't see any I like. This is a nice surprise. Didn't intend to get anything and tah-dah! Here it is. Just in time for a wedding in July. :)

Supremely Pissed!

As the title of this blog suggested, I'm supremely pissed. Dun go fuck around so much if you cannot afford it. I dun ask you to raise my kid (there's no contribution from that side of the family to begin with). So dun expect me to raise yours. If you cannot afford to sustain your lifestyle or support your children, then go ask them to get a job or beg. That's what most of the underprivileged children in Indonesia do anyway. And yours are Indonesians right? So do what their own people do. They can go sell newspapers, sing, play dumb or beg at traffic junctions...I dun care. Why should I pay for you fucking cunts that are younger than your daughter's. You're no Romeo man! Wake up! This is totally shameless! Fucking CB (pun totally intended!).

Just A Thought

I was just thinking, that living in Jogja is indeed a relaxing affair. I mean, if I were to be living in Manhatten, I'll be very tired, not to mention stressed out. In all the shows that I've watched, women are always nicely dressed, with impeccable hair and make-up. Even when they're at home, it's sorta like a culture to dress up. And here I am in the middle of the afternoon, still dressed in my berms and t-shirt, with not a single streak of make-up and my hair all over the place and not feeling even slightly out of place. And I do believe Manhatten will have no room for a fat woman like me. So yah. I may be envious of how they look like. But I do believe that it'll be very tiring to maintain myself just to fit into the overall picturesque scheme of things. :)

Dixie, Happy Puppy & Quality Hotel

Food in Jogja is always 'goreng'. So much so that sometimes, you get quite sick of it and the lack of veg does get to you. But there are also nice restaurants that serve nice food and makes you wanna go back again and again. We'll continue to explore and satisfy our palate in the 4 years we're in Jogja.
Happy Puppy is where we go for Korean and Jap food. Although they do serve Chinese as well, we dun really go there for it. Food is yummy, but super ex in Jogja's terms.
Yummy sushi and sashimi...which are not common here.

Bentos are more of a common sight.

Quality Hotel is one of the very few places that serve dimsum. Although without pork, it still leaves us satisfied till we go back to SG or HK to have real dimsum.

Dimsum without pork. This is like one of the VERY few places that serves dimsum..and it wasn't half bad.

Dixie serves a variety of food and we usually order Italian when we dine there. It's also where a lot of the locals go for internet access. And cos they serve drinks on refill, ppl just stay and surf. I especially LOVE the Chocolate Fondant, which is similar to the lava cake in SG. Except, they do it better here than in SG.

Yummy fried chix with mayo. Our choice starters at Dixie.

And they serve pasta in a claypot.
I totally enjoyed this. Most steaks served in Jogja are merely thin slices of beef. This is an actual steak.

This has got to be my fave dessert. The chocolate in the cake actually oozes out. Better than most laca cakes in SG where the choc remains in the cake as a semi-solid piece instead of oozing out like it's supposed to.

Dixie and Happy Puppy will be the places to bring any of you who comes to visit.

Cashmere Mafia

I was watching Cashmere Mafia, a display of 4 extremely successful women in their respective field, who struggles with what’s expected of them professionally and personally. Many a times, sacrifices are made on a personal level to attain what they ambitiously want in the office.

Familiar storyline? I’ve known many women who fall into the same category in life. They climb so high up there on the corporate ladder. But seriously, I think they bite off more than they can chew. I mean, there’s only so much a person can juggle. Can there really be a perfect equilibrium where bosses and families are concerned? We try so hard to juggle the various roles we have in a society as a woman; so much so that sometimes, we end up being like clowns (pun intended). Of the many women who gave so much of themselves to their job, a huge percentage ended up losing their partners, only to regret in later in life when they get lonely or fired from the job.

Is it really worth it? Dun get me wrong. It's not like I'm against it. It's a life's choice and I used to be like dat. Frankly, I still miss it. The sense of power, The adrenaline rush of closing a deal and fire-fighting the moment you step into the office, the sense of satisfaction and achievement at the end of a very tiring day. But...to wat end?

Bandung Trip

We made a trip to Bandung over the Vesak Day long weekend and I must say, I didn't quite enjoy the trip. It was purely a shopping trip and nothing else and the weather was kinda bad. We ran into heavy rain and blackouts and I wasn't exactly thrilled to stand outside an outlet carrying Dallen, being engulfed in smoke while the hubs tried to get a cab. Everyone was stuck cos they didn't have umbrella and the rain was too heavy for them to continue walking in them. So the smokers whipped out their ciggies and started smoking away. My poor Dallen. Lungs blackened by yet another degree.

I set off on the trip with the objective of getting clothes for the lil one. But we couldn't find any nice ones and ended up buying clothes for ourselves instead. Oh well....man proposes, God disposes.
We took an overnight train to Bandung and reached just after 6am. This is the sight as we neared the station.
This is our first stop for shopping and the best among all the outlets we've been to.

Look at Dallen's expression...priceless!

Pooh! Dallen's fave toy!

Tigger...taken for good measure.

Fiddling with Daddy's newspapers!

Getting ready to leave but still not letting go of the remote control.

And we're on our jolly way back with Uncle JJ.

Another stubborn attempt to stay awake despite being very sleepy.

Yummy Dinner!

Des' group of friends are gonna return to SG soon and we decided to have a good meal before they leave. We obviously had enough of Indon cuisine. So Korean it shall be and it was yummy!

The kind Auntie Angie who adores Dallen and helped mummy a lot during the one month in here.

Dallen entertaining himself while we feasted!

Ain't he adorable! Getting more so as the days go by.

We were so excited to find Shoju on the menu cos alsohol is so scarce here. But it turns out to be a local product and totally disappointing.

The Ma Po Tofu which wasn't half bad.

One of my fave Korean dish - Spicy Beef Soup.

Sashimi!!! Have been craving for it since we came to Indon!

Our Abode for 4 Years

We confirmed the rental with the owners yesterday and they will be drawing up the contract for our signatures and will be meeting us later today again. Everything is confirmed and they have kindly agreed to either service the aircon or change new ones and to change the stove. The owners are really nice and I hope everything falls through. There's only one glitch. They want us to pay 4 years' rental upfront and we will not be able to do that. So we're getting them to consider letting us pay the rental year by year. We'll see how it goes. Here are the pics of the house.

The 2-storey house which may be our humble abode for the next 4 years.

The waiting area once we enter the house.

Dining room area.

The living room which greets us once we go up the stairs.

The master bedroom which comes with a connecting bathroom.

The other bedroom which we intend to rent out.

The kitchen and on the left is an open area where we can hang the laundry. Behind the kitchen is the washing area.

The garage.

We Found It!

I was beginning to think that we have to stay in the service apartment for another month when we viewed a house today and we sorta fell in love with it. It comes partially furnished, which is good. Cos then we can save on some of the furnishings (which are costly) and yet still get our own stuff to add our personal touches. The major stuff like aircon, bed, sofa and water heaters come with the house and these are the high-price items! So now we save on big ticket items and dun have to worry about what to do with them at the end of 4 years. And, the house is near a hospital (which is good cos of the lil one) and a navy admin office (i think), which means security should not be a problem. And the neighbours? Mostly foreigners! What more can I ask for?! But we're playing it safe and viewing one more house. So I hope nobody beat us to it and rent that house. *keeps fingers crossed*
Pictures when I have the time to resize them. Going for yummy dinner now. Ciao!
