Wonders of Being Pregnant

Hubby was on duty yesterday and didn't come home. So he took off this afternoon and wanted to give me a surprise. But somehow, I have a gut feeling he was coming back early. Haha.... His surprise always gets spoilt.
So we went for lunch, did some grocery shopping and came back home cos he said he wanted to clean the house. I was grateful and thankful that he's willing to do the housework cos it's really not very easy for me to lug the heavy vacuum cleaner around the house anymore. Not with the load on my stomach. And when I vacuum and mop the floor, my back suffers and ultimately so do I. So it's a relief that I don't have to clean the house. And what is hubby doing now? Preparing to cook dinner. Yeah! I dun even have to cook dinner tonight. :) And while he's at it, he's preparing bird's nest for me. Haha...Pregnancy has its advantages. Thanks dear!

Happy Birthday To Me

July is a month of celebration for hubby and me. First, there is our ROM on 7 July, my birthday on 8 July and the day we got together on 10 July.
Since we got together, we have always travelled for this period of time. This year, we are unable to travel as I am heavily pregnant. So we celebrated in Singapore.
For our ROM anniversary, I cooked a Western dinner cos hubby liked Western food. It took all the energy outta me man! After dinner I felt so tired I didn't have the strength to do anything else. It's so much easier to cook a normal Chinese dinner. But for this special occasion, it's all worth it.

For my birthday, hubby took the effort and booked a room at The Sentosa Resort and Spa which is on Sentosa, hoping I will have a feeling that I am away from Singapore. He didn't wanna book a hotel on the main island of Singapore cos then it will just be another day in Singapore. Initially, hubby kept the hotel booking as a secret. But the secret was leaked out on 3 occasions and I already know that we're gonna be staying at a hotel; just that I dunno which one it will be.

When we checked in, I thought he booked a normal room. But as it turned out, he booked a junior suite! I was really surprised. But at the same time, I was worried about the cost. Aside from that, the room was really nice and hubby even got the hotel to arrange a bouquet of flowers for me. It was lying nicely on the bed when we entered. As soon as we settled down in the room, we went to the pool to relax and enjoy.

For dinner, hubby secretly arranged to have a few close friends join us. But again, I found out about it days before my birthday. Haha.... Although all the surprises were 'discovered' by me, I still had a great time.

Thank you, darling!

Ready... Get Set...GO!

The weekend was tiring. Hubby and I spent the weekend on the final preparations for the baby's arrival. Finally, it's all done and we have more or less finished buying all the stuff for the baby.

On Saturday, we went for the gynae check-up and the gynae said I have about another 4 weeks to go. My EDD was supposed to be 20 Aug. So that means I may have an early delivery. Well, we'll see how it goes in another 2 weeks' time when we go for another check-up. One improvement during this check-up: the baby wasn't blocking his face with either the hands or the legs. But all we could see was still a profile and not a full frontal view. Sigh...

After the check-up, we went Tampines to get some of the remaining stuff for the baby and then to mum's place to bring back the cot. Then we spent the afternoon assembling the cot (or rather hubby was doing that), moving the furniture in the bedroom to accomodate the cot and cleaning things out. This is how the bedroom looked like before.

And this is how it looks like now.

After church on Sunday, we went to get the final stuff for the baby and then headed home to wash all the baby's clothes. Boy are there a lot of them! I didn't realise there was so many. More than half are hand-me-downs and the rest are either given by friends or bought by us.

I'm glad we're finally done with the buying. For the past few months it seemed like there are endless things to buy. No matter how much we bought, there always seemed to be other stuff that we need to get. Now we're finally done. Even the hospital bag is packed. All that's left to do is to look out for the contractions while I continue to grapple with the strained back and sleeplessness cos the baby is now quite heavy and is pressing on my bone whenever I sleep sideways.

It's July!!!!!

It's finally July and I am one step closer to seeing our baby boy! Traditionally, July has always been an exciting month for me cos hubby and I will go overseas to celebrate my birthday. Since 2007, we have another reason to celebrate - our ROM. But this year, there will be no overseas trip for us. I know hubby has planned something for my birthday and I hope it's nothing too expensive. I'll rather save the money for when the baby comes. There are just so many things to pay for and the amount is quite staggering.
Well, this Saturday we're going for another gynae check-up and hopefully this time round, we can see the FULL face when we do the 3D scan. After this, we'll have another 1 or 2 check-ups left before baby makes his debut in life. I'm still considering if I should go for the 2-bedded room even though I think hubby is not giving me much choice. He's quite adamant that I go for the single room.
After the check-up, we're gonna bring back the baby cot which we left at mum's place cos the elders say I can't have the baby cot at home too early. Beats me.... After we bring the cot back, it's goodbye to space in the master bedroom. There's gonna be major getting used to cos we're gonna have to reorganise the room. Sigh...I like the room as it is. But guess we dun have much of a choice. The baby has head-butted his presence into our lives even before he's born. I can't wait for his actual presence!!! Let's hope I dun have to wait for the full 40 weeks. :p
