2 Saturdays back we had dinner with a gang of RCIA pals. This is an interesting group cos most of us are 'conned' into 'helping' out with the Baptism and Christmas celebration dinner. Most of them were told that they'll be helping out logistically. Then, the bomb was dropped and they were told the truth: they had to put up a performance of sorts for the dinner. Quite standard fare, coming from a church.
So the group was haphazardly put together and the first few meetings was rather unproductive. To begin with, there wasn't full attendance and I was thinking of ways to get myself outta it. But subsequently, the group got on fine and we managed to put together an item for the night. The best part was, we had fun doing it. There was no squabbling and every feedback given was constructive and taken positively. So, the friendships were forged and after the dinner, we kept in touch via email and organised a CNY dinner.
It was great fun and after a steamboat dinner filled with laughter, we adjourned to Bugis Junction for ice-cream. Nope, we didn't sit down to have our ice-cream. We held our ice-cream cups and walked around the building like some secondary school students. It was quite a sight.
After that, we went to Bar None where Jonathan paid for drinks and got us a table. I can imagine it must have cost quite a bit.
